PROPOSAL
My plan is to complete a case story of two ELD students. I will conduct the research through Zoom sessions. The standard format for my 30 minute Zoom sessions includes speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The reason for Zoom is due to virtual learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have a teaching schedule based on my school’s guidelines. I will work with Axel and Heishliany in 1 – 2 extra Zoom tutoring sessions a week, as well as in ELD class. Both students are emerging ELL (English Language Learners). Their native language is Spanish.
I will use the following to build my case story:
· Interviews with the students
· Interviews with parents
· Bimonthly surveys (English/Spanish)
· Zoom videos and chat sessions: recordings archived
· Teacher journal and reflections
· Anecdotal records
· Lesson template: (which I will develop to record data) that includes speaking, listening, reading, and, writing. The focus will be on speaking and writing.
· WIDA: Their “Can do” philosophy, and Speaking and Writing Rubrics
