During my administrative internship, I had the opportunity to co-lead a workshop with my former principal at a national leadership conference in Orlando, FL. This was a great learning experience for me. It highlighted the importance of a professional network and made me realize how much knowledge is in a room, and how important it is to tap into that as leaders.
COVID hit all schools hard. In March 2019, my school got shut down and we all went remote. Morale was at an all-time low, however, our wonderful school community came together and made sure our students felt cared for. I worked with my principal, fellow teachers, and staff members to create a presentation of our best practices and share it with school leaders from all around the country during a Zoom workshop.
It was a pleasure learning together with a group of principals and district leaders at the "We Are All In This Together Conference" in Queens. My co-facilitator and I loved listening to participants' ideas and experiences building strong Instructional Leadership Teams.
