Schools do not function in isolation; they are a vital part of the community they serve. To help build bridges with our community, I have worked with our parent coordinator, families, and CBOs to facilitate parent workshops, recruit future 6th graders, and started the annual Thanksgiving Essay Writing Contest. The "winners" are chosen by teachers and the turkeys are given to families who need them the most.
