Here are a few measurement results I made on my FTDX5000.
The set up:
FTDX5000 @ 7.135MHz
3kHz roofer
VRF OFF
Width 2.4kHz
Contour read below
Audio interface: Navigator Radio to PC interface
Software: Spectrum Lab v2.77 b09
Pic 1
The radio configuration for Picture 1:
Contour filter switched off.
RX DSP SSB Filter passband SHARP green line.
RX DSP SSB Filter passband SOFT yellow line.
RX DSP SSb Filter shape factor steep.
Strange to see the SOFT setting narrow the passband, but what peeves me the most is the emphasis of the lower frequencies.

The radio configuration for Picture 2:
Contour filter switched off.
RX DSP SSB Filter passband SHARP green line.
RX DSP SSB Filter passband SOFT yellow line.
RX DSP SSb Filter shape factor gentle.
There is no difference detectable between the medium and gentle passband.
Pic 3
The radio configuration for Picture 3:
Contour filter switched on.
Contour Filter setup:
Centered at 2000Hz
Gain set at 20dB
Q-Factor 7
RX DSP SSB Filter passband SHARP green line.
RX DSP SSB Filter passband SOFT yellow line.
RX DSP SSB Filter shape factor steep.
As can be seen the audio is a lot better balanced, with a slight peek at 2000Hz.
My RX Audio configuration is:
© ¼ ½ ¾ ⅜ ⅝ @ π ω µ Ω ε η λ °
