Single DOF satellite testbed with flexible appendages
Experimental setup
Components: Panasonic servo motor, Panasonic servo driver, Laifual harmonic drive, satellite rigid hub made of aluminium extrusions with an acrylic sheet adaptor, flexible appendages, and a laser displacement sensor.
Operation: The servo driver gets position commands from a NI myRIO controller. The servo then moves the satellite's rigid hub about the vertical axis, using the harmonic drive, ensuring high positional accuracy and rigidity. The laser displacement sensor measures the deflection of the flexible beam.
Purpose: The setup is used to test and validate motion-planning algorithms for a single-degree-of-freedom maneuver of the satellite (see video below).
