Students have loved making Pixel Art in class using graph paper and colored pencils. However, they can use some amazing web applications to take their video game inspired art into the Digital Art world!
Using an app like Piskel or Pixilart, students can draw their own pixel art designs using individual squares called pixels. They can even animate their drawing - or make it look like it is moving - by making repeated drawings.
This tool is a great way to blend technology and art together in a fun, playful way!

One resource that students have taught me about is ArtForKidsHub.Com. It features a father and art enthusiast named Rob, who creates video tutorials with his children in painting, drawing, sculpting, and more. Students can easily find a video tutorial on how to do something that they are interested in, watch the video, and follow along on their own paper.
The videos are always positive, are a great way for students to explore their artistic interests, and are a good way to practice different techniques.
