This is a game that you can play with a partner (a brother, sister, parent, friend, whoever wants to draw with you)! The trick is to draw the same thing as your partner at the same time as them - but mirrored on the other side of the paper. It can be a little tricky... which leads to some wonky, silly, funny results! Have fun!
Check out this video lesson for a different version of a scribble drawing game! This one turns out more abstract with just line, shape and color!
This drawing game is a ton of fun because every time you play it will turn out different! All you need is paper, drawing tools, and a die (one that you would use to play a board-game or dice).
In the video below artist and author, Mr. Hervé Tullet , shows you how to play the game! What kind of monster will you make?
Here is a fun "game" that we used to start off the 2020-2021 school year, get warmed up for art class, and to learn about the seven Elements of Design. Feel free to dance along with me!
Grades K-6 Game
Supplies: Any scraps of paper & anything to draw with
This game is a fun way to explore mark-making and flex your imagination muscles, and it is very simple to play! Here is how it works:
-First get at least two people to play.
-Each player gets a piece of paper and something to draw/write with.
-Each player takes 5 seconds to put one interesting scribble, squiggle, wiggle, or mark on their paper.
-Then the players swap papers with each other.
-With the new paper, players use their imagination to turn the new squiggle into a picture or work of art!
-You can extend this by using color, filling the page, etc.!
Finish the scribble and be creative!
Grades K-6 Game
Supplies: Paper and something to draw with
This game is a classic! The exquisite corpse, or exquisite cadaver, was invented by French surrealist painters and artists about 100 years ago! It is a fun way for different artists to work together to create art, and to show off their different styles. Here is how it works:
-Step one is to get 2-4 people to play the game.
-Start by folding the paper into sections - One section per person playing.
-Then fold the paper up so that only one section is showing.
-One artist will draw a design or character on that piece of the paper.
-Make sure that drawing touches the edge, and connects to the next section!
-When the first artist is done they fold their drawing away and hide it.
-Then they pass the next blank section to the next artist.
-Repeat this process until everyone has drawn a connecting picture on their own section of the paper.
-Finally, open up the entire paper and see what kind of crazy, amazing creation you have made!
During the period of world-wide quarantines starting in March, Danish artist, HuskMitNavn, created free download-able, printable illustrations in his cartoon style! Each drawing was available for two days only - so they are an amazing, limited edition kind of coloring book! Super cool!
Here are a few of his most fun drawings that you can download or print:
