EL Workshop: How to Help EL Students Thrive in Your Class

DESCRIPTION: In this workshop-style session, general education teachers will practice making their content more accessible to English Learner students and families. Teachers and staff will translate a document using Google Translate, and create more comprehensible inputs and graphic organizers to help ELs more easily learn math, science, social studies and ELA content. We will also discuss what sheltered instruction is and how it can be applied at OHVA, how to determine if an EL student may need special education services, and the basic demographic information of who our EL students are. Attendees should bring their charged laptops to the session.
