For our analysis, we decided to focus on the healthcare company HealtTap that was founded in 2010 by Ron Gutman, a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Gutman started this company with an ambitious plan to provide real-time, trustworthy and personalized health advice from thousands of doctors through the use of a mobile app and web platform. It provides users with an online option for face-to-face interaction with a doctor and a means of directing patients to the right offline healthcare provider. Over time, the company has set up a substantial network of doctors and users through its platform and mobile app. Furthermore, in 2016, the company has acquired the startup Docphin, which assists doctors with finding and reading medical research. As a result of its efforts, HealthTap currently has roughly 101 to 250 employees and gains an annual revenue of $12M.
For our business model innovation project, we will be analyzing HealthTap's business model as means to provide suggestions to improve this model using digital innovation. We chose HealthTap because we are interested in exploring how it aims to deliver value to their customers and how it may reshape the healthcare services industry.
