HOT PEPPER PRANK ON WILLIAM (habanero)

The video begins with Bill sitting in the Living room as Violette sits across from him, recording him. Bill begins to explain how his son, William, always thinks he is better than him and his wife, and that he can always outdo them; therefore, he plans to take revenge. He explains how he possesses two peppers: one is a jalapeño, and relatively mild compared to the level ten habanero pepper he also has. He plans to tell William that the habanero is the mild pepper and the normal jalapeno is the spicy pepper. Additionally, he plans on offering William twenty dollars in order to ensure he accepts the challenge. Bill calls William down, and despite William initially not wanting to come down, the news of something edible entices him down. Bill explains to William that the pepper which he plans to feed William is the lesser hot pepper, which is a lie. William, and his avarice agenda, readily falls for Bill's deception and gobbles up the entire pepper with little hesitation. William, after a few short moments, begins to rub his face before bursting out in a full-on panic attack over the spiciness. After a few short moments, Bill reveals that he does not plan on eating his pepper. William, in a panic, reaches for milk and then ice cream, before a rare cut is seen in the video. William continues to eat the ice cream while also roaming throughout the house, and even venturing outside both the front and back doors. He begins to run in circles around the house as well. Bill starts to also make comedic comments such as, "he loves it," and "hey! Save me some of that ice cream."  As he becomes desperate, he puts sugar and even soap in his mouth. Violette threatens to get Bill. Bill in response brings up Violette shooting him in the butt, he refers to her as Annie Oakley. It is revealed that Bill turned the water off on William. After his mouth begins to cool off, William switches back to milk, and then a cookie. William then pleads for the twenty dollar Bill which was promised. Bill claims that he needs to go to the bank to receive it but after some arguing he gives in and gives the bill to William. The video ends with William leaning against the kitchen microwave, still not able to talk. Violette's voice is quite quiet and somber near the end of the video.

I personally find this video to be both iconic but also lacking anything which makes it stand out. It may be a profusion of different factors which cause this feeling. Most probably, it is because there are several other videos centered around hot sauce pranks. Despite this, I find this video to unveil quite a good amount of rabbit holes we can delve into. Firstly, it can be noted that Violette does not agree with Bill's idea and does not want William to eat the pepper, despite knowing it's a super hot pepper, and that Bill was lying about his own being hotter. She never directly reveals Bill's actual plans to William. Most mothers would tell their child before they are about to put themselves in harm's way, yet Violette appears to avoid revealing the prank. This is probably due to fear and tension in their relationship, as she may fear his reaction if she. Another little but important detail is that there is a small jump cut at the 5:16 mark. These can be found sparsely throughout their videos. The cut in the video was not a particularly long one, and is either the result of a camera glitch (known to occur), or she simply wanted to cut out a certain moment, though it is unclear what it may be. Overall, this video is quite revealing and highlights some internal tensions within the marriage of Bill and Violette.
