Overview
Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds significant potential to enhance teaching, learning, and academic projects. Historically, both faculty and students have relied on various tools to support instruction, skill development, and scholarly work. As with previous technological innovations, the integration of AI into higher education requires intentional planning and thoughtful implementation to ensure it meaningfully contributes to learning outcomes. Emerging research underscores the benefits of AI for faculty and students and highlights multiple avenues through which it can positively influence higher education.
Although AI has existed for several decades, its recent application in educational settings has created new opportunities to employ it as a practical tool for teaching and learning. AI can support a wide range of academic tasks, including course design, assessment, tutoring, fostering inclusive learning environments, conducting data analysis, and supporting research and academic writing. When used responsibly, AI has the capacity to increase efficiency, promote engagement, and personalize the educational experience.
BoodleBox, an AI platform specifically designed for educational use, exemplifies this potential. It serves as a collaborative space for faculty and students in higher education to design learning activities, streamline course preparation, and model responsible AI engagement. While institutional websites and early reports indicate an increase in pilot implementations across universities, peer-reviewed research on BoodleBox remains limited.
