Official Opening - "40 Years of HIV, Where to Next"

Join us for the official launch of World AIDS Day 2021. Starting at 9am with an Acknowledgement of Country by our MC, Vic Perri. The President of Living Positive Victoria will open the day's events with a short speech to be followed by the official launch by the Minister for Health, the Hon Martin Foley on behalf of the Victorian government, and a speech by Parliamentary Secretary, the Hon Harriet Shing. Finally, we have Associate Professor Jen Power from La Trobe University lead a panel of people living with HIV explore the theme of this years World AIDS Day and what they would like to see addressed into the future for people living with HIV.

This event will commence at 9am and run for approximately 60 minutes. It will be live streamed on Wednesday the 1st of December 2021.

Associate Professor Jen Power - Moderator of panel discussion

Jennifer Power is an Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society.

Jennifer is a sociologist who specialises in research related to sexuality and sexual health. Her research projects have explored digital sexual literacy among young people and adults, quality of life among people living with HIV, the social and ethical implications of research toward a cure for HIV, LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing, and fertility and reproductive choices among LGBT communities.
