Rochester Hills Farmers market was our first outreach / fundraising event this year. We planned and executed this event along with our sister teams from Van Hoosen middle school. We sold about $700 worth of baked goods. Our team baked cookies to sell.
We were able to attract people to our stall with an innovative game concept, "Robot Sumo Championship". We built and programmed two Lego Spike robots to fight each other in a Sumo fighting style. Two people will be playing this game using the controllers with an intention to push the other robot out of the ring. We were able to attract many young kids to our stall, having fun and learning about STEAM at the same time.
This event is one of our most important events because we are able to make money to use for our robots. The funds from this event are split among the 6 teams to buy parts.
Apart from being a great opportunity to raise money, we also were able to connect to lots of people, while strengthening bonds with our 5 sister teams.
