Using the Rotate and Highlight tools, locate each of the major bones of the skull listed below
Frontal bone
Nasal bone
Lacrimal bone
Ethmoid bone
Vomer
Maxilla
Sphenoid bone
Zygomatic bone
Mandible
Parietal bone
Temporal bone
Occipital bone
Using the Highlight tool, find each suture from the list:
Coronal suture
Sagittal suture
Lamboid suture
Squamous suture
Sphenoparietal suture
Sphenosquamous suture
Parietomastoid suture
Occipitomastoid suture
Next, use the Rotate and Highlight tool to locate and identify these additional landmarks:
Zygomatic arch - Formed by the joining of the Coronoid process of the Zygomatic bone and the Zygomatic process of the Temporal bone
External acoustic meatus
Styloid process
Mastoid process
Mastoid notch
External occipital protuberance
Next, position the head anteriorly and inferiorly to expose the frontal and nasal bones to an appropriate view for the next steps
Using the Dissect tool, remove the frontal and nasal bones to get a better view of the ethmoid and sphenoid bones. (Hint: Use the Anatomy icon to search for both bones and highlight those bones.)
Review the venous drainage of the brain. Identify the following components:
Superior Sagittal Sinus
Straight Sinus
Occipital Sinus
Transverse Sinus
Sigmoid Sinus
Superior Petrosal Sinus
Inferior Petrosal Sinus
Cavernous Sinus
