Independent Studies (IND): Independent Studies courses exist for learners who can manage their time and who wish to create an area of study in which the other high school offering cannot accommodate. IND courses happen with instructor permission and with instructor collaboration. These courses may or may not fall within a regular scheduled day. Students must have the support of two instructors for their IND project. Additionally, students must also be able to prove that they have self-discipline and that they are interested in taking charge of their learning. IND projects may involve art, writing, welding, researching, creating, innovating, reading or music. Students must pre-arrange their project with Mrs. Vestal and they must have a mentor teachers who will help with their proposed project and serve as an evaluator. Projects must align with Montana CCS curriculum and contain a grading rubric for their mentor teacher.
