Today was the last day of class and I already miss everyone! To end the class, we reviewed adjectives, comparisons, and superlatives. Then, we said ended our class with a last game of greetings and goodbyes.
I hope you will all continue your English language journey (I saw so much progress these last few months)! I hope I can visit you in DR someday. Thank you for being a wondereful class. ❤️
With only two classes left, we are continuing our review of English grammar and vocabulary that we learned these last few months.
We practiced the final verb tense we learned which is the simple future with “will.” Then, we reviewed common WH Questions. Finally, just for fun, we played a Name 3 game to test your vocabulary and a game to celebrate Earth Day which was earlier this week.
Don’t forget, next Wednesday, May 1st is the last day of class. I hope to see everyone there so we can say goodbye!
There's only four classes left to go and we will start reviewing everything we learned the last few months. Today we focused on the verb tenses that we learned:
Wow, that was a lot! Great job everyone!
Paula and I reviewed Wednesday's lesson on present perfect tense and we found a great website with the most common irregular verbs and their past tense and past participle form. Read and study the verbs and their conjugations at https://eslgrammar.org/irregular-past-tense-verbs/
We have covered simple past tense, simple present and simple future tense. Today, we worked on the Present Perfect Tense (Have you seen the baseball game? I have been to the Dominican Republic).
Watch the videos on Present Perfect Tense and how is it different from the simple past tense. Then practice with these three different games on Baamboozled: Positive and Negative Sentences, Questions with Present Perfect, and Present Perfect or Simple Past?
Homework: Read Unit 4, "I want a chocolate bar!" in English Made Easy, Volume 2 (pages 34 - 43).
Thank you Paula and Sahilys for the interesting lesson on Dominican culture! I enjoyed learning more about your family and your jobs. I definitely have to watch some of the films of our residence celebrity!
We also had some time to cover some tricky and difficult grammar concepts such as quantifiers and phrasal verbs.
Quantifiers help us answer questions about “how much” and “how many”. To learn about quantifiers take the following steps:
Watch the video on articles (a/an/the) and countable and non-count. Then, practice by playing the fill in the blank game.
Watch the video on quantifiers “some” versus “any”. Then practice with a fun game.
Watch the video on quantifiers “a lot”, “many”, and “much”. Then practice with all the different quantifiers you just learned.
Homework: Read Unit 3, “It’s a goal!” in English Made Easy, Volume 2 (pages 26 - 33).
Today we worked on adverbs of frequency. It answers questions about HOW OFTEN we do something. Watch the video for the grammar lesson, then play the games on Baamboozle to practice your vocabulary, correct the grammar, and answer “How often” questions.
Homework: Read Unit 2: "Let's Check the Flight Number Again" from English Made Easy, Volume 2 (pages 16 - 25).
Welcome back from Easter break! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. Today, we reviewed Quiz 2 and were introduced to a new book, English Made Easy, Volume 2. Unit 1 focuses on Phrasal Verbs which are verbs + prepositions (ex. go out, catch up..) used most often in everyday speech. It is an informal way of speaking and what you would most likely hear if you are visiting the U.S.A.

Complete the listening task with the song “Mad House.”

Hooray! We have reviewed the first ten units from English Made Easy, Volume 1.
To review what we learned, you will take a quiz in class for Units 1 - 10 next Wednesday, February 21st. You must complete all class quizzes and the final exam to complete the course.
Quizzes and exams are all open-book. This means you can use your notes, your dictionary, your book, online sources, and previous activities to answer the questions. However, you may not ask another student or any other person to help you with the answers. You must answer the questions yourself.
Quizzes and exams are only taken during class time. This means that the link is only available to you while you are logged into Google Meet. You have the entire class time to finish the exam. When you are finished, you can log off of Google Meet.
We will review your quiz when everyone has completed the exam.

¡Hurra!
