Students are expected to remain actively engaged in the course by logging into Canvas at least once each week and completing assignments by their due dates. Students who become inactive may be dropped from the course. If you decide you cannot continue, you must officially withdraw by the applicable deadline; simply stopping participation does not constitute withdrawal.
Regular participation and communication are important parts of the course. Students will engage with the instructor through assignments, feedback, and the final capstone project. The instructor typically responds to students within two working days and grades assignments within five working days.
Students should also be aware of the course repetition policy. A student who earns a W or NP may enroll in the same course up to three times within the district to earn a satisfactory grade, subject to applicable registration and petition requirements.
Since much of our communication will take place online, we must create a friendly, respectful, and welcoming learning environment. Netiquette simply means using good manners when communicating online.
When participating in discussions, sending messages, or communicating with your classmates and instructor, be respectful and professional. Everyone comes to this course with different experiences, backgrounds, and skill levels, so be patient and supportive of one another. Disagreements are okay, but personal attacks, offensive language, or disrespectful comments are not appropriate.
Remember that written messages can sometimes sound different than you intended. Read your message before you send or post it, and ask yourself whether you would be comfortable saying the same thing to someone face-to-face.
Most importantly, be kind, participate, ask questions, and help make our online classroom a positive place to learn.
