Saturday, April 21, noon–4 p.m., Vashon Island High School (9600 SW 204th St.)
The high school is the central hub for afternoon activities: An extensive children’s activity area; an expo of vendors of environmentally-oriented services; an all-ages dance party; and a speaker series. The speaker series is where you come in.
Last year about 250 people attended. This year we are expanding the activities to include volunteer opportunities throughout the week, and an all-ages party at the high school. The Beachcomber, the Island’s main newspaper, will publish a pull-out section detailing the event. People come to learn, to take action, to make choices about their lives, and to celebrate.
We will have the use of the school theatre, which seats about 250 people. The theatre has a projection system, including a large screen a good sound system.
We will keep an approximate schedule. Your presentation may be among short films, longer speeches, or short statements.
Speakers: Erika Carleton, erika@vashonlandtrust.org. Visual artists and musicians: Andy James, andyjames@centurytel.net
If you are coming from the south, take the Pt. Defiance-Tahlequah ferry (Tahlequah is the Vashon side). The 10:05 ferry should work well.
If you are coming from Seattle, take the Fauntleroy (West Seattle) ferry. The 10:10 ferry looks about right.
Vashon High School is at 9600 Southwest 204th Street.
