We need to raise funds for resources to make our neighborhood more prepared and more resilient, and properly equip our volunteers so they can help in time of emergency.
As part of our preparation, we need to pre-position a cache of supplies and tools that we can use to help people who are trapped or injured, or unable to access or use their own home emergency supplies.
We have collected some donations, and it is now time to ramp up the effort with your help. We currently need to raise about $5000 for a secure shed or trailer to store our current and future supplies , and to acquire crucial supplies and tools - including first aid kits, rescue equipment, generator, etc.
Like your contributions to accident, home and earthquake insurance, think of your contribution to VarsityParkCERT helping you ensure your safety and well-being. Insurance is helpful downstream, but in an emergency, having a robust and well-equipped mutual aid team of volunteers ready to spring into action can be life saving.
There are several ways you can make your contribution:
Give your taxable cash or check directly to one of the VPC-officers. Our EIN is: 83-2151148. We are not a 501(c)3.
Tax-free donations are made through the not-for-profit 501(c)3, "Association of Mountain View Neighborhood CERTs (AMVNC)", This is particularly effective if you need a tax-free donation receipt or if your company does matching funds, since AMVNC is listed by many Bay Area companies as an approved tax-free organization. See https://www.amvnc.org and https://www.amvnc.org/donations for details. Checks may be mailed to their PO Box or online through PayPal. You must mark the contribution as "FBO VarsityParkCERT" to direct it to VarsityParkCERT.
If you would like to donate some equipment, supplies or other in-kind item, please contact one of the VPC-officers
