A dangerous new pattern of communal violence is taking shape. Demolition of homes and livelihoods is at the core of it. Minorities, mostly Muslims, bear the brunt of these ‘punitive’ actions. As the politics determines the policy, the future of the remaining roofs in India’s mohallas and ghettos is grim.
