COVER STORIES
Four years after the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme piloted in Telangana, logistic and technological challenges abound. An on-ground assessment shows the scheme has been a lost opportunity against heightened migrant food insecurity in the state.
MORE STORIES FROM THE CITY
Even though the state transport department is developing new schemes to improve its service, it has yet to take any actions to tackle the persistent but neglected issues. Overcrowding and rash driving are some of the biggest concerns.
Hyderabad is home to one of the largest migrant populations in India. The government welfare schemes are yet to reach them. Wages are low and living conditions are sub-standard, but migrant workers still have reasons to hold fast to the city.
Hyderabad was recently ranked as one of the leading women-friendly cities. The city has good representation of women in the workforce. However, there seems to be a divide between the actual concept of women’s inclusivity and its understanding among people and organisations.
