During the semester, as a course requirement, I completed virtual simulations. I have included the medication and plan of care worksheets for all nine mandatory simulations. I completed one to two simulations per section on the vSim. I completed one medical simulation, the case Carl Shapiro who had acute myocardial infarction. A surgical case study, Stan Checketts who had preoperative bowel obstruction - fluid and electrolyte. I completed a gerontology simulation which include three parts. The case Sherman “Red” Yoder, which involved part 1 – admit to hospital, type 2 diabetes, foot ulcer; part 2 – atypical sepsis; and part 3 – discharge planning. I completed two maternity simulations. The case of Brenda Patton, the core simulation – rupture of membranes and the complex simulation – active labour. I completed two pediatric simulations for Jackson Weber. The core simulation was generalized tonic-clonic seizures and the complex simulation was status epilepticus. The last area I covered was two mental health simulations. The case of Li Na Chen included two parts illustrating major depressive issues. These virtual simulations introduced me to various situations I have never experienced before. I learned new medications and interventions to implement for future situations.
