The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
The Visualization Approach presentation was a collaborative project that I completed with two other classmates. We created a presentation from the information learning in class as well as what we found from out own research. We presented the information to our college class and we also gave our other classmates the opportunity to participate in this presentation.
This artifact goes along with the IPTS 8L) which states that the competent teacher, "initiates collaboration with others to create opportunities that enhance student learning." By collaborating with my peers I was able to learn how powerful collaboration is. From this experience I was able to learn more about the visualization process than I would have been if I worked alone. Working with peers allows you to share ideas and information as well as learn from others and their experiences. The Visualization Approach collaborative project is an artifact that shows, team work, research as well as organization.
The Task Analysis projects is an artifact that presents information on how to help and encourage students with disabilities to learn. A task analysis is the process of specifying behaviors needed for a particular task that can help to shape students' responses. This artifact shows how task analysis can be used to teach math, but it can also be used in any other subject in general education or in special education.
This artifact represents the ITPS standard 8S) participates in the design and implementation of individualized instruction for students with special needs (i.e., IEPs, IFSP, transition plans, Section 504 plans), ELLs, and students who are gifted. Task analysis provides individualized instruction for all students who need it. Task analysis can be used for any students who need more detailed instruction during lessons or during everyday classroom routines.
I learned from this artifact that providing detailed steps for students can greatly impact their learning in a positive way. Not all students learn the same, which means that some students might not need as detailed instructions as other students will need. Task analysis can be used from kindergarten all throughout life. This is a simple yet extremely effective way of breaking down learning into simple steps that are clear and precise.
