To teach students about the plant's vascular system, I did an experiment to show the student how plants transport nutrients through this system. I used celery cut in half at the bottom, 2 cups of water, as well as red and blue food coloring. We placed the celery stalks in two different cups, one in red food dye mixed with water and the other in blue food dye mixed with water. The next day we checked in on the celery. The students made observations and saw that the colored food dye turned the two different sides of the celery red or blue!
For a fun Halloween week experiment the students were able to test out a self inflating balloon! We used baking soda, vinegar, a water bottle and a ballon to cause a fizzy reaction that inflated the ballon. During this lesson students were able to learn about how different substances may cause reactions when mixed together. In class I like to include motivational quotes through out the day. This is Powerpoint that I created and posted on Seesaw for both students and parents to see. I like to use motivational quotes in me personal life and I wanted to share them with my students. I believe that motivational quotes can have a positive impact on students and how they perform in school and outside of school. When I share quotes in class I will write them on the board, share them in the powerpoint for the day, and I will have the students recite them out loud. I believe that when you see positive quotes through out the day as well as say them out loud, you start to believe it and you start to carry that energy through out the day. I hope that my motivational quotes can inspire students, and I hope that they will remember to use these quotes in their lives as they grow up.
I love to inspire my students and to challenge them to be their best. I wrote this speech to inspire my students when they are going through tough times in their lives. Through out my semester student teaching, I built strong relationships with students. The students felt comfortable enough with me to share what is bothering them, what they're sad about and different triggers that can cause them anxiety. When students first come to me with a problem, I always ask, "do you want a solution or do you want a listening ear?" This allows the student to tell me what they are looking for in that moment. If the student wants a solution we'll plan and find one together. If the student wants a listening ear, I'll listen to them until they have nothing left to say. My main goal for my students is for them to know that they are loved, supported and cared for. I want my students to know that they are capable of so many wonderful things and that they can do hard things. The purpose of this speech was to inspire students so that they can work hard and inspire others. After presenting my speech, I gave students the opportunity to write their own speeches that would inspire or motivate a classmate, friend or family member.
