Emil Toescu is a member and advisor of the research project, focusing in particular on the Biomedical Cluster and the development of the Medical Humanities side of the project.  He is medically  qualified, but spent most of his career in basic neuroscience research, focusing on the neuronal responses to the process of ageing. With a long experience in public engagement with science, in the last few years he has been exploring in more detail the interface between (biomedical) sciences and humanities. Currently, he is involved with a pan-European initiative to promote the inclusion of Medical and Health Humanities in medical education.  In this project, he will contribute to the development of a strong Medical Humanities core program (conferecens, workshops and publications), and help with building s strong editorial presence in this field (chapters, edited books and special issues, as well as the planned Short Introduction series of volumes).
