2025-2026 Library Syllabus
Welcome back! My name is Mrs. Dever. I LOVE books and reading and look forward to sharing this love with you! Please review the rules, expectations, and grading rubric listed below, as it has changed since last year. Each class will earn a movie day if all permission slips/contracts are returned by the due date. Sept. 2 ,2025.
I’m excited to announce that this year 3rd-6th grades will increase their library time from 30 minutes to 45 minutes!
Class Rules
We are quiet when entering, exiting and during our time in the library.
We may whisper to our neighbors, but I have the right to take this privilege away.
We will not disturb the learning of our classmates.
We will always be respectful of others.
Food, gum, and drinks other than water will not be permitted in the library at any time.
Book Check Out
You are allowed to check out a total of 2 books at a time (1st graders-1st semester 1 book at a time).
Books must be returned in the same condition they were checked out in (normal wear and tear is expected)
If a book is lost or damaged, you are responsible for replacing or paying for that book. Overdue notices are sent out twice a year, the week before Winter break and 2 weeks before the end of the year.
Book Care and Repair
Please DO NOT attempt to repair books with regular tape. If a book is damaged, please bring it to me so I can repair it properly. Regular tape melts in my machine and makes it hard to get the book back to usable condition. Most books repaired with regular tape end up being thrown away.
Grading Scale
Grading this year will be based on:
1st-2nd: Participation and behavior only
3rd -8th: participation and accuracy of completed assignments.
Each student starts their day with 10 participation points, it is up to them to keep them.
Behavior Plan General Supplies
1. Verbal Warning These supplies need to be brought to every class
2. Loss of participation points- explanation noted in parent portal Planner (4th-8th)
3. Planner signed (4th-8th) Homework folder (1st and 2nd)
Loss of privileges (1st-3rd) Book Bag (1st-3rd)
