Empowering scholars of the San Fernando Valley est. 2025 | Proud with Courage, Confidence, & Excellence
Many students in the San Fernando Valley often face significant challenges in discovering their passions and achieving academic success as they prepare for college and beyond. Underfunded Title-1 schools and financial hardships limit the access to the mentorship and guidance scholars need during critical formative years, especially between 8th and 10th grade. Whether they are first-generation students, or scholars simply unsure of their interests, the lack of accessible mentorship and resources can hinder their confidence and potential greatly, discouraging them from pursuing opportunities that could shape their futures.
The Valley Scholars Network (VSN) aims to empower students through personalized academic mentorship and equal access to educational opportunities through establishing an extensive network between undergraduate mentors and primary school scholars, bridging the gap between accessibility and inclusivity. Rooted in the true Bruin values of service and leadership, VSN connects a team of passionate UCLA undergraduate mentors multi-versed in a diverse range of academic interests with driven middle and high school students (8-12) across the San Fernando Valley. Through personalized guidance in college preparation, extracurricular involvement, scholarship advising, and holistic mentorship, VSN ensures that every scholar, regardless of socioeconomic status or starting point, is equipped to flourish with curiosity as future leaders and scholars in their respective fields.
At its core, VSN hopes to create the support system every aspiring student deserves. Our team strives to create an impact on under-resourced high school communities by passing on the torch of knowledge to the bright students who stand in the shoes we once were in, today.
"Every student deserves the chance to discover their purpose, unlock their potential, and conquer college with confidence."

VSN Sponsored Educational Seminars aims to provide leadership, educational, and academic interactive workshops or mentor panels for students (8-12) to have the opportunity to explore various passions or career fields by talking to respective undergraduate leaders in their fields. The goal is to provide students with the opportunity to connect with college students and understand how to prepare to succeed in one's own journey to higher education and beyond.

In the future, VSN hopes to collaborate with high schools and middle schools to bring interactive workshops and educational seminars onto campus, allowing students (8-12) to experience the life of a UCLA student while learning more about their individual roadmap to college, and connecting with a multitude of our undergraduate mentors on our VSN team. While on campus, students will undergo multiple professional development and leadership panels with UCLA students, graduate students, and educators to learn from leaders in various fields of study, and more about how to succeed as a scholar regardless of background and experience.
