About Me

My name is Valerie Jean Routhieaux. I am a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. More importantly, I am a born-again Christian.

I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where I have lived since 1990. I have three adult children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

I am a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, seeing duty in San Diego, California where I met my late ex-husband.

Besides living in Wisconsin, where I was born, I also lived in California, Illinois, and Guam where my husband was stationed.

I began writing at a young age when I saw an episode for a western series, I told myself I could write better. Thus I started my writing life at the age of eight.

I started on the road to publication in 1980 when I started my first book, Scarred, published in 2012. I took a correspondence course and earned a diploma from The Institute of Children's Literature.

Since 2012, I published eight other novels. The first four are historical fiction, the Colonial America series: Scarred, Manifest Destiny, Stowaway, and Freedom's Cry. I also have the Island Paradise mystery series: Thread of Evidence and Vendetta. Then I published Legacy and Where Eagles Soar, mystery standalone novels. I will soon have another book published: Destination Love.
