Where Eagles Soar

Peter Langford is a surveyor by trade, living in the new territory of Alaska in 1872 where men far outnumber women. As a man of solid Christian beliefs, he wants a good, God-fearing woman for his wife, not a saloon girl, and puts an advertisement in the newspaper for a suitable woman.

Heather Whitcomb is the daughter of a minister in Boston, Massachusetts. She has a teaching certificate but is unable to find a position. Intrigued by an advertisement in the newspaper, placed by a man looking for a good Christian wife, she sets out to answer the ad when her father snatches the paper away, sees the ad, and forbids her to answer it. Instead, he gets her a job as a companion to Mrs. Jameson.

Mrs. Jameson has a grandson, Lowell, who is more than a little interested in Heather and determines to make her his wife. He goes behind Heather’s back to ask her father for her hand in marriage, which he agrees to. It is only then Lowell’s true character comes out.

Will Heather escape Lowell’s attention and make her way to Alaska? Does Peter Langford’s ad attract the attention of the right person?
