Research

I am particularly interested in the interaction between syntax and pragmatics. Topics I have been working on include reference, word order and information structure, negation,  verbal valency, prosody and discourse markers.

My approach combines language description and documentation. During my research stays, I have always tried to collect data that were also relevant from an anthropological point of view. Moreover, I have always been attentive to language change and socio-linguistic dynamics in general. 

Another interest I have is the Amazigh/Berber oral tradition. I have indeed collected several folktales, short poems, riddles and traditional songs which gave me crucial linguistic, historical and anthropological insights into the community of speakers.
