Siwa and Siwi traditions
Siwa and Siwi traditions
Produced for the Amazigh Languages channel. It starts with the Siwi traditional opening formula introducing folktales. The video was made putting together different audio and video recordings I collected since 2011.
Siwi is a Berber/Amazigh language (Afroasiatic) spoken in the oases of Siwa and El Gara in the Western Desert, Egypt.
This page contains pictures I have been taking in Siwa and El Gara since 2011 [all rights reserved]. Captions are in Siwi.
I am grateful to all the people who welcomed me in their homes, showed me around, and shared their knowledge with me.
