I am a linguist interested primarily in the description and documentation of minority languages, especially those within the Berber/Amazigh family.
Originally from Naples (Italy), I completed both my BA and MA degrees at the University of Naples "L'Orientale". In 2011, I moved to France where I spent four years working on my PhD project on Siwi Berber at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Paris)/LLACAN (CNRS) under the supervision of Prof. Amina Mettouchi. A few months after the beginning of my PhD, I made my first journey to the Berber-speaking oasis of Siwa (Egypt) that I have frequently visited since then. I defended my dissertation in 2015 and in 2016 I started a 4-year Post Doc at the University of Naples "L'Orientale". In 2019, I was awarded a Fulbright Research scholarship where I spent a few months at the University of Boulder, Colorado (US). From 2021 to 2023, I worked at the Department of Afrikanistik und Äthiopistik of the University of Hamburg (Germany) as an Alexander von Humboldt Experienced Researcher. In 2023, I obtained the Italian Scientific Habilitation (Abilitazione scientifica nazionale), SC 10/N1, SSD L-OR/09 and in 2024 I started a postdoctoral research position at the University of Naples, "L'Orientale".
Currently, I am a Merian Centre for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb (MECAM) 2025-2026, Université de Tunis Fellow.
