Ujarak
Ujarak is a powerful individual, who likes to be in charge. He is used to being respected, and while this is a boon when working with dires, who respect a loud bark, it means he somewhat lacks people skills.
An elder of both Bear Tribe and the Pack Leader faction, people often turn to him for advice on tokota handling. However, most people are a little intimidated by him.
Ujarak is from Bear Tribe, and joins the Pack Leaders early in his career. He studies dire tokotas in his native Tartok Mountains, and after marrying Anana, they set up a rehabilitation centre, caring for dires who have been injured so that they can return to the wild. After his marriage with Anana breaks up, he insists on keeping his son Aujak - Bear Tribe are a patriarchal society, unusually for Kanqisat, so he feels it is his right. However, he isn't the greatest father, and their relationship is strained. When Aujak is old enough, he leaves to go and live with Anana in Napaaktuk.
In addition to running the Dire Sanctuary, Ujarak trains people in handling dires, leading them through grooming, riding, and breeding the extra large floofers. He is a demanding teacher and is very fussy about who he is willing to take on as an apprentice. They will spend six months to a year helping him at his Dire Sanctuary, where they will help breed a litter of dires. If they impress him, they will be rewarded with one of the dire pups when they 'graduate.'
