VA-AP was established to safeguard the well-being of all animals through legislative and policy initiatives. With a united voice, works to create a humane community where animals benefit from progressive & life-saving programs.

It also serves as a trade/educational resource for its member organizations striving to maintain the highest standards in animal welfare and care.

To advance animal welfare across Virginia through advocacy, education, collaboration, and data-driven policy solutions that protect animals, support communities, and strengthen the organizations that serve them.

The Virginia Animal Protection Group works to:

Develop and support animal welfare legislation
Build partnerships between shelters, rescues, veterinarians, educators, and government
Promote community programs that improve outcomes for animals and families
Use data and technology to identify problems and guide solutions
Support the people working on the front lines of animal care
