From February 3rd to February 7th, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Senec, Slovakia, for an enriching week full of activities, learning, and friendship. This visit provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with our peers from another country, explore new experiences together, and strengthen our understanding of different school systems and cultures.
Our journey together began on Tuesday, when we met our guests for the first time. To start the week on an exciting note, we explored the beautiful city of Prague on a joint tour. This excursion was not just about sightseeing—it was a chance for us to bond, share our experiences, and introduce our Slovak friends to the history and beauty of our capital city.
Later in the afternoon, we baked cakes together in preparation for the next day’s Well-being Conference. This hands-on activity was more than just about making delicious treats—it was about working together, getting to know each other better, and learning the value of teamwork. For many of us, this was the moment when we truly connected, making friendships that we hope will last beyond this project.
On Wednesday, we participated in the Well-being Conference, where multiple schools gathered to discuss important topics related to students' mental health, school environments, and overall well-being. We had the privilege of listening to insightful presentations from different school parliaments, learning about their initiatives, and exchanging ideas. This experience allowed us to see how student parliaments function in different schools and countries, broadening our perspectives and inspiring us to implement new ideas in our own environment.
After an informative and inspiring morning at the conference, we continued the fun in the afternoon with a bowling session and a closing party. This was a fantastic way to unwind, celebrate the success of the event, and strengthen the bonds we had formed throughout the week. Laughter, friendly competition, and meaningful conversations filled the air as we enjoyed the last official day of our cultural exchange.
Reflecting on the week, we all agreed that this project was a huge success. Not only did we make new friends that we plan to stay in touch with, but we also gained valuable insights into Slovakian school life. Being part of the Heureka Conference was a rewarding experience, leaving us with a wealth of new ideas, thoughts, and motivation for future projects.
Few projects have the power to bring people together the way this one did. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to similar collaborations in the future. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this experience unforgettable!
