The activities put on by Women in STEM have a few guiding principles from which we hope our members will benefit the most.
COMMUNITY: Through ice cream socials, cookie decorating parties, movie nights, and kaffeklatch discussions (the possibilities are endless!) we hope to promote a welcoming and inspiring environment for everyone in UW-Eau Claire's scientific community.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
By investigating the careers of real-life scientists both past and present, through lunchtime discussions, conferences, books, and field trips, we hope to inform aspiring scientists of the former obstacles and current challenges of the workplace milieu. OUTREACH: We hope to start a program to reach out to area and hometown high schools, in which WiSTEM members would give presentations encouraging the next generation to consider a career in the STEM fields. Click here to learn more.
