One of the things I appreciate about Unitarian Universalism is its commitment to lifelong learning. Whether it be topics such as history, tradition, spirituality, parenting, sexuality, ethical living, or justice-making, we are always open to the ongoing revelation or reinterpretation of truth. Here, too, each of us can be an authority, shedding new light on others' experiences.
It is not easy being a parent, let alone a volunteer teacher. Fostering curiosity, self-confidence, and compassion in children is some of our most important collective work to do. I love using story, song, and poetry to help children (and adults) learn something new. I also know to collaborate with and rely on the expertise of others who specialize in this work.
