My Mentor
Actually two mentors
Actually two mentors
Noam is a longtime friend and bandmate of my dad, who was kind enough to agree to help with with this project. He's an incredible musician and musical mind all around, and while he's said that music is more personal than professional for him, his musical work ethic is still unbelievably impressive. For nearly 10 years now, Noam has written, recorded, mixed, and finished an entirely new song every two weeks, including lyrics and vocals. Work ethic and musical inspiration are two things I've struggled with as a musician for years, and the fact Noam has both of these things down to a science is so impressive to me. His role in this project was less about teaching me technique, and more about providing insight on the creative process. We talked a lot about how we think about music, what role music plays in our lives, and why we even care about it in the first place. He gave me so much impactful advice, and really helped me make sense of my musical and creative mind.
While he's not my official mentor, it feels wrong to not acknowledge how much of an impact my dad has had on this project. He's an incredibly dedicated and skilled musician; and a fountain of knowledge when it comes to production and music creation. Besides the fact that he owns an entire studio in our house for me to use, he's the one who taught me all the technical stuff about studio recording and ProTools, which are the backbone of this project. We recorded several jam sessions together back in January, and one of them became the song FREESTYLE, which makes him the only featured artist on the EP. This project aside, He literally raised me on music and cultivated my passion for it, which is something I can't thank him for enough.
