Life of academic projects isn’t long. Most often, they are published as websites made at various site builders. Site builders are usually commercial and it’s not profitable for them to store "non-living", "abandoned", unpopular and free content. As the creators, having passed their exam in digital culture, don't need to develop their projects any more, the project gradually dies: it has no visitors, it is not indexed by search engines. On this page, I provide links to some projects, their short descriptions and a screen-cast. If you notice that the project is already not available online, please contact me.

Noise is an acoustic pollutant. To tell people about dangers that noise can pose for city residents, the authors of the project created the website "Soundscape of Tyumen". Here you can learn about levels of noise allowed at different time of the day, as well as how much noise (in decibels) this or that type of activity produces.
The authors recorded noises in several districts of Tyumen and measured their loudness using an app on their smartphone. You can listen to recordings of these noises on their website.
The site is complemented by the authors' promo cartoon, photos of places where the noise was measured, and embedded links leading to websites about the soundscape of New York and Seoul. Besides, on the basis of the material studied, the authors offer a test "Which city district is right for you?"
soundscape_Tyumen.mp4The procedural system introduced by the Regulations of Criminal Proceedings often becomes the matter of interpretation in fiction. The purpose of this project is to explore the norms of criminal procedures through the prism of L. N. Tolstoy's "Resurrection" and F. M. Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" and "Notes from the House of the Dead". The authors investigate behavior of the legal parties in a trial and analyze actions of individuals in a situation of a burdensome choice, for example, a situation of impulsive murder.
The website itself is a quest game where you become the hero of a novel and the murderer of a classmate. The website is designed in black and white colors with accents on landmarks (for example, a pulsating bloodstain or a gun). The section "About the project" contains info-graphics, based on a survey. Many of the illustrations are drawn by the authors of the project in a drawing tablet.
Tolstoy.mp4This website is a dictionary based on the works of F. M. Dostoevsky. It contains words and phrases that characterize St. Petersburg. Their frequency is represented in the "word cloud", and on the interactive map you can see pictures of locations where literary scenes took place.
The website is very laconic and at the same time full of key information. The banner contains a collage with an original logo. All elements are designed in the same style.
dost_peter.mp4This website is dedicated to the district of Tyumen called KPD. Here you can read not only about the development of the district, but also about people who live there today, as well as see original photos of modern KPD. Besides, the authors made info-graphics in the style of the website and collected a digital archive of articles from the newspaper "Tyumenskaya Pravda" (1961-1971).
The site is a classic long-read mainly in black and white, matching the historical theme of the project. It's easy to navigate. You can check how well you know KPD in a quiz.
kpd.mp4This website tells about a board game developed by the students on the basis of facts and legends about the ancient city of Arkaim. The board game can be downloaded and printed out, since all files with maps and rules are publicly available on a Google Drive.
brozesun.mp4This information-packed website about the Chinese banking system is pretty simple. The color palette speaks for the seriousness of the topic, and the news ticker on the banner reminds of newspapers and stock exchange buildings.
china_bank.mp4One more website dedicated to a serious topic. The site navigation is based on four steps, that are four main thematic blocks which lead the readers through the investigation.
smellofwar.mp4In this project, page navigation is made using animated elements of a geographic drafting created by the map-maker Semyon Remezov in 1701.
remezov.mp4This website is about government support for students. The website is distinguished by impeccable performance: simple navigation, clear division into sections, all links are working.
students.mp4Results of several projects on related topics are posted on these two websites. The electronic encyclopedia "Pandemics" has collected information on the history and statistics of world epidemics from ancient times to Covid-2020. The analytical website "The Problem of Perception of the Alien" has united three projects: "Jews in Italian Art of the 14-16th centuries", "The Problem of Migration in a Historical Caricature" and "Hashtags #refugeesnotwelcome and #refugeeswelcome on Twitter".
