Alissa Roca, soprano, has been praised for her ethereal coloratura and clear, powerful, expressive voice. She is particularly known for her work in contemporary music, and frequently works with composers including Dan Welcher, Jesper Koch, Michael Daugherty, and Jason Mulligan. She has premiered over eighteen pieces including a full length concert drama and set of songs of her own texts. Ms. Roca made her professional debut with Opera Naples where she performed lead roles in six Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. She has also performed Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore, The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, and the title roles in Daugherty's Jackie O and Floyd’s Susannah. She has worked as a soloist with the Dallas Symphony, the Meadows Symphony, the Miami Bach Society, SYZYGY Contemporary Music Ensemble and the University of Texas New Music Ensemble, as well as produced and performed numerous solo recitals. Ms. Roca recently completed a Performer's Diploma at Southern Methodist University, where she earned her M.M. in 2016. Raul Facundo Gomez is a native of Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico. He attended San Jacinto Community College where he studied voice with Dr. Zachary Bruton. Currently, Mr. Facundo Gomez studies at the University of Texas with Dr. William Lewis. There, he is an active pledged member of the professional music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon (Mu Theta Chapter), and Lambda Theta Phi (Alpha Eta Chapter). Mr. Facundo Gomez frequently makes solo appearances and also has extensive work in opera and musicals. His roles include Spallanzani in Tales of Hoffmann, Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha, Pelléas in Pelléas et Mélisande, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas, Sam in Trouble in Tahiti, Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka the Musical, and Curly in Oklahoma!. In the 2018 - 2019 season Raul will sing with the Texas Concert Opera Collective company as Elder McLean in Carlisle Floyd's Susannah, King Melchior in Amahl and the night visitors, and Johann in Werther.
Andrew Bambridge is a third-year undergraduate majoring in Musical Composition and Performance at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Currently, he studies composition with Dr. Robert Aldridge and percussion with Joseph Tompkins, Mike Truesdell, Kyle Zerna, and Javier Diaz. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division and is a winner of VSA’s 30th Annual International Young Soloist Competition. His composition portfolio includes solo pieces, pieces for chamber groups, a full orchestra piece, and songs with lyrics that have been based on events/hardships in his life. His passion for writing music is rooted in its ability to transmit emotion to others.
Jill Morgan is an American Mezzo-soprano from Andover, Minnesota. Jill is currently in her second, and final, year of her Masters in Music Performance at the University of Texas at Austin. Most recently, Jill has been seen on the McCullough stage as Meg Page in Falstaff, and as Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia with the Butler Opera Center. Jill has also been seen performing with the University of Texas University Chorus, as well as The Cedar Rapids Opera Company. Upon completing her degree, Jill will pursue performing around the country, and go wherever the music takes her!
Dr. Blaise J. Ferrandino is Professor and Division Chair of Music Theory and Composition at Texas Christian University where he has been since 1990. Besides his work as a composer, Ferrandino is a Music Theorist and Double Bassist. His degrees are from Ithaca College, Syracuse University, and the Hartt School. He is active in publishing, presentation, and composition/performance. At TCU he has served as Interim Director of the School of Music and Chair of the Faculty Senate. He has been Division Chair of Music Theory and Composition since 1995. Beyond TCU Dr. Ferrandino has served as President of the Texas Society for Music Theory and is a College Board consultant for Music Theory in the Southwest Region. Compositions include song cycles, large-ensemble pieces, a wide-ranging assortment of chamber music, an opera, and solo works. These include: Sonata for Pianoforte and Violoncello; Symphony for Wind Ensemble, Trio for Violin, Soprano Saxophone and Piano; Quintet for Violin, Oboe, Horn, Trombone, and Piano; and Crossing the Plains for soprano and piano.
