About Utkarsh
Utkarsh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Carleton University. He is a statistician and data scientist who works in health outcomes, clinical trials, biomarkers, and statistical/machine learning.
Utkarsh completed his doctoral studies in Statistics at the University of Guelph with a postdoctoral fellowship in bioinformatics at McMaster University.
Utkarsh's work in health outcomes is on understanding phenotypic, genotypic, and treatment response variability in two progressive diseases: Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD and BMD, respectively).
His work in clustering involves developing novel mixture models with applications in model-based clustering and classification while his work in phylogenetics involves developing novel algorithms with applications in bioinformatics.
Utkarsh's research is funded by NSERC, NIH, DOD, and Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne.
