Úthellingu Kindred is an inclusive Germanic Heathen kindred based in Central New York. “Úthellingu” is an Icelandic word meaning “outpouring.” We named ourselves after the city of Oswego, NY (“Oswego” derives from a Haudenosaunee phrase meaning “pouring-out place”), where the kindred was founded, but also after the story of Oðinn pouring out the mead of poetry.
We are a community dedicated to the creation and maintenance of inclusive, welcoming spaces where Heathens can find supportive and compassionate kinship, share insights about faith and practice, participate in intelligent and thoughtful dialogues, and seek refuge in a safe and protective circle of frith. We seek to bring kinship to those who feel they have none; to show we welcome all who welcome all; to make sure no one is left out. Our group works hard to provide educational opportunities to our kinspeople and the public; where our members have taken time to research topics important to our community and to the greater heathen community.
As an inclusive community, we recognize that not all ideas can be tolerated in a frithful space. We believe that all people, regardless of race, class, gender, sexuality, age, or ability, are entitled to participate in worship and reciprocity with our gods, spirits, and ancestors. As such, we do not tolerate bigotry or ideas that derive from bigotry, such as fascism and folkism. Our kindred are signatories to both Declaration 127 and the Declaration of Deeds.
All who welcome all are welcome.
Hail!
