There are many advantages to hosting a reading group, including:
Potential lab members: You will be assigned with students interested in your group. Many interested students will have the experience and knowledge necessary to get involved in projects
Helping the community: Inspiring undergraduate students to become more active in research
(Note: Graduate students get precedence before undergraduate students if funds run low)
Although you get to choose how often to meet, it is recommended you meet once a week for about an hour. The time is flexible whenever you and your group members have time. You will likely also need some time to prepare which papers to read and projects to do.
You can choose do a reading group where you read important papers or a project group where you do projects and introduce them to the course. You should be familiar with the topic that you talk about. The difficulty level and curriculum depends on what you and your group wants. In the form, specify what level and prerequisites you expect from your mentees. Feel free to consult the officers if you have any questions on what coursework to cover.
