Mayoral Candidates Forum: July 21st, 2025 - 6:30 to 8:30 pm

The Union Square Neighborhood Council (USNC) invites you to attend a Mayoral Candidates Forum. This event will inform the public about the ways the future mayor's vision and policies for Somerville will impact the Union Square neighborhood. All mayoral candidates will be present and in person. This will be a hybrid event - attend either online or in person.

In order to approve a CBA, the USNC Board will require support from a 2/3 majority of a combination of the USNC Membership and anyone who lives, works, owns property, operates a business, or volunteers at an entity located in Somerville within 1000 feet of the boundaries of the development area being negotiated for the CBA. Where partial blocks result, residents living on the whole block are eligible to vote. Where houses are only partially inside the catchment area, the residents are eligible to vote.

What is the Union Square Neighborhood Council (USNC)?

Somerville's Union Square Neighborhood Council was created to help shape the future of Union Square as an increasingly inclusive and vibrant neighborhood and commercial center built around the aspirations of the people who live and work here. Membership is open to all residents, property owners, business owners, workers, and volunteers in the Union Square neighborhood, though all are welcome to attend and participate in meetings. Meetings are currently being held in person and on Zoom.

Tell the City of Somerville that Community Center Planning is Overdue!

The community is circulating a petition in support of a community center. The USNC endorses this initiative.
