Proposed Development: 1 Union Square.
On October 6, The Hamilton Company presented their proposal to redevelop 1 Union Square to the USNC. It is a five story, mixed use, primarily residential building replacing the current commercial space - the shops and businesses - in the D6 parcel.
You can view the presentation here.
This is very preliminary, and will require a zoning change from the city to proceed.
Visit the Somernova hub for updates on the Somernova CBA and project
Somerville's Union Square Neighborhood Council was created to help shape the future of Union Square as an increasingly inclusive and vibrant neighborhood and commercial center built around the aspirations of the people who live and work here. Membership is open to all residents, property owners, business owners, workers, and volunteers in the Union Square neighborhood, though all are welcome to attend and participate in meetings. Meetings are currently being held in person and on Zoom. Join us!
Tell the City of Somerville that Community Center Planning is Overdue!
The community is circulating a petition in support of a community center. The USNC endorses this initiative.
Sign the petition here.
We hope everyone has a peaceful and happy holiday season, and we will see you in 2026.
