Established in 2001, University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS) has acquired the status of a distinct institution of legal education in an unparalleled setting of multidisciplinary environments. It has emerged as a premier hub of legal education in India. With the objective to serve as an institution of advanced legal studies, USLLS is the first University Law School established in the vicinity of the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, various subordinate courts, Commissions, Tribunals, and various monitoring offices of national and international voluntary organizations. Its faculty is selected prescribing higher qualification than the University Grants Commission (UGC). The course structure is contemporary and practice-oriented with a special focus on legal ethics which attracts students from all over India and overseas. USLLS stands as a beacon of excellence, fostering a dynamic environment where tradition meets innovation. With its unparalleled commitment to academic rigour and holistic development, the institution continues to shape the future of legal education.
USLLS has achieved Rank 12 in 2021 and Rank 17 in the year 2024 by the Ministry of Education's national rankings on law schools, surpassing well-established names and cementing itself as part of the upper echelon of law schools in India. The law school, with a well-experienced and sincere regular faculty, conduct all the courses with professionalism and value orientation. USLLS has been ranked 10th all over India and 2nd in Delhi by India Today Survey of 2016, reporting it as one of India’s leading law schools.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has been established by Govt. of NCT of Delhi under the provisions of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), India under Section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC Act. The University graded as “A++” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore for the period of 07 Years w.e.f 14.02.2023. The University is ranked 1001-1200 in the QS rankings 2025.
The University has 14 university schools (colleges of the University), 12 of them are on the campus in Dwarka and 2 schools, USAR and USDI are on the new East Delhi campus.
There are more than 120 affiliates of the university, which are run according to the rules and regulation set by the university.
It is an affiliating and teaching University which aims at facilitating and promoting studies, research and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with focus on professional education, for example engineering, technology, management studies, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, law, etc., and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields and other matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
