Welcome to US history! I have been teaching at Rowland High School for almost 20 years. I currently teach AVID 12, US History and APUSH. I am also the Social Studies Department Chair and the AVID coordinator, as well as the club advisor for Rally Raiders and UNICEF. Throughout my time here at Rowland HS I have also taught World History and Government. I also advised Academic Decathlon and Mock Trial for 10 years.
I enjoy anything to do with basketball and Disneyland. So you will often find me at the Disney parks or catching a game on TV. I also love reading books when I get the chance. My favorite author of all time is John Steinbeck and my favorite book is the Grapes of Wrath.
Rowland HS is a special place for me because I grew up in Rowland Heights and graduated from Rowland HS myself! I also attended Killian Elementary just down the street before I moved on to Alvarado Intermediate. I attended college at CSUF (Go Titans!) where I majored in History and earned my teaching credential. I also have my masters in Educational Administration. It has been a dream come true teaching at my former high school and working alongside my former teachers. (shh...I even remember the location of my old locker.)
I believe in the equal importance of mental and emotional health in addition to academics. I hope to not only teach, but to also nurture the whole student. I hope you enjoy my class this year and know that you belong to a great classroom community. I also hope to further develop your historical analysis and questioning skills along the way too!
