Gubernatorial control coming into the 2058 midterms.
2058 Gubernatorial Midterms
The Democratic Governors Association, led by Joe Biden had a gubernatorial majority over the Republican Governors Association, led by Darth Ron Paul heading into the 2058 midterm elections. Republicans targeted many states such as Texas, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. The Democrats targetted states like New Mexico, Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maryland.
2058 Midterms Margins
Like many of the 2058 Senate Elections, Republicans led early in almost every state across the country, but Democrats would roar back taking leads in Minnesota and New York with popular incumbent Governors Larry Bird and Charlotte Niejmand as well as states like Pennsylvania and Virginia. Democrats would lead in Iowa, Vermont, and New Hampshire later into the night, but Republicans would lead in Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama. As the night came to a close, many states were up in the air including New Jersey, with incumbent governor Cossack, Georgia, with incumbent Governor John, Kansas with incumbent Governor Dan Osborn, and New Hampshire with incumbent governor Ronald Reagan. On election night Kansas would be called for Osborn but New Hampshire would be called for Democratic opposition Abraham Lincoln. It would take 4 more days for New Jersey and Georgia to be called both going to the incumbents by less than .1% giving the Democrats control over the majority of governors.
Many events would happen as governors competed for the Super Bowl, Worlds Fair, and a large defense contractor to come to their state.
