Jaeden Cortés is a first-year medical student at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. As a track member in the Rochester Early Medical Scholars (REMS) BS/MD program, he completed his undergraduate studies in biological sciences at the University of Rochester. Jaeden aspires to practice medicine with a focus on preventive care through nutrition and exercise, with particular interest in the gut-brain axis and resistance training. His research interests center on improving adherence to dietary interventions among youth at risk for eating disorders and within underserved populations.
Lea Brown is a PhD student at the University of Rochester (UR) School of Nursing. She is the 2023 Loretta Ford Fellow at UR and a 2024-2026 American Association of Colleges of Nursing Jonas Scholar. Before pursuing her doctoral degree, Brown worked as a registered nurse in surgical services, human resources, and nursing professional development for 25 years in Oklahoma. Her research goals include the development of an instrument for measuring nurse competence, enabling an examination of the relationship between nurse competency assessments and patient outcomes.
