Our project aims to enhance the accessibility and understanding of Kayseri’s rich cultural and natural heritage—particularly the Koramaz Valley and the Kültepe Archaeological Site—through an intuitive and informative mobile experience. Developed by UrbanSense AI Lab in collaboration with the Kapadokya-Kültepe-Koramaz Tarih, Kültür, Eğitim ve Araştırma Derneği, the “Kültepe Koramaz Rehberi” mobile application offers users an opportunity to explore these historically and ecologically significant areas with ease.
The Koramaz Valley, stretching 12 km from the foot of Mount Koramaz, is a lush corridor rich in biodiversity, historical architecture, and cultural landmarks, including underground defense structures and ancient churches. It is home to several neighborhoods like Ağırnas—the birthplace of the renowned architect Mimar Sinan—and provides a glimpse into a unique civil stone architecture and centuries-old water systems.
The Kültepe Archaeological Site, one of Anatolia’s earliest centers of trade and written history, also forms a key part of this cultural ecosystem. These two locations together represent a deeply rooted connection between nature, culture, and civilization.
To support cultural tourism and public awareness, our mobile application was created with a user-friendly interface that allows users to:
Discover recommended cultural routes
Access historical and architectural information about each stop
View photographs and suggested activities
Explore content even without an internet connection
The app is part of a broader mission by the Cappadocia-Kültepe-Koramaz Association, founded in 2021 by academics, historians, and cultural professionals, to safeguard and promote Kayseri’s heritage. The application also aligns with the mission of UrbanSense AI Lab, a multidisciplinary team aiming to leverage digital tools in urban planning and cultural heritage preservation.
Currently available for Android-based devices, the "Kültepe Koramaz Rehberi" app is designed as a digital companion for tourists, locals, researchers, and heritage enthusiasts alike. It promotes meaningful, informed engagement with the region’s unique cultural narrative.

Cultural Route Application
Background
The Kültepe Koramaz Guide was developed as part of a broader effort to preserve, explore, and promote the unique cultural and natural assets of Kayseri. Led by the Kapadokya-Kültepe-Koramaz Tarih, Kültür, Eğitim ve Araştırma Derneği, the project focuses on two of the region’s most historically significant locations: Koramaz Valley and the Kültepe Archaeological Site.
Koramaz Valley, stretching 12 kilometers from the foot of Mount Koramaz, is known for its stunning landscape, ecological richness, and historical settlements such as Ağırnas—the birthplace of the world-renowned architect Mimar Sinan. The valley contains numerous rock-cut churches, ancient fountains, and underground defense structures, reflecting a long-standing architectural tradition and vibrant cultural life.
Kültepe, on the other hand, is one of Anatolia’s earliest urban centers, renowned for its cuneiform tablets and status as a major hub of trade and administration in the ancient world.
To make these heritage sites more accessible and engaging, the UrbanSense AI Lab team developed the Kültepe Koramaz Guide mobile application. The app allows users to explore curated cultural routes, access historical and architectural information, view photographs, and discover recommended activities at each location. Designed with a user-friendly interface, the application also supports offline access—ensuring usability for both local and international visitors during on-site exploration.
This digital guide not only enhances the visitor experience but also serves the long-term goal of increasing awareness and appreciation for the region’s heritage. By combining historical knowledge with modern technology, Kültepe Koramaz Guide promotes sustainable cultural tourism and contributes to the preservation of Kayseri’s rich historical landscape.
