Cultural Route Kayseri (KÜLTÜR YOLU KAYSERİ)

Background

The “Cultural Road” project was initiated as part of an overarching effort by the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality to preserve, promote, and enhance the cultural and historical heritage of Kayseri. Recognizing the rich historical and architectural tapestry of the city, the municipality sought to create a structured route that would link key landmarks, enabling locals and visitors to appreciate and engage with these cultural treasures more deeply. This effort was grounded in a broader vision of revitalizing urban heritage and enhancing cultural tourism, making Kayseri a focal point for both historical education and meaningful travel experiences.

To bring this vision to life, the project began with a detailed process of identifying and cataloging buildings of architectural and historical importance in and around the city center. Experts, historians, architects, and cultural heritage specialists worked collaboratively to create an extensive inventory of significant sites, highlighting those deemed essential to the city’s cultural narrative. This led to the creation of a cohesive route, referred to as the “Cultural Road,” connecting these landmarks to provide a curated journey through Kayseri’s heritage.

Our team, “UrbanSense AI Lab,” became involved to address the growing need for a modern, accessible way to engage with the Cultural Road. We developed a mobile application designed to bridge historical appreciation with contemporary technology, allowing users to access detailed information about each stop on the route. This includes insights into the historical context, architectural features, photographs, and recommended activities, all aimed at fostering a deeper connection with the city’s heritage. Our goals are to enhance the visibility and understanding of Kayseri’s cultural landmarks, create a user-friendly tool that enriches the visitor experience, and ultimately contribute to the preservation and celebration of local heritage. By making this resource available for offline access on Android-based devices, we strive to ensure accessibility and encourage a meaningful exploration of the Cultural Road for all users.
